World affairs - The Israeli Hamas war (genocide) continued.
It is now over seven months since the despicable attack on Israel by Hamas and Israel still continues to extract revenge in what can only now be seen as an attempt at genocide. Israel, of course, denies this claiming that they are just defending themselves by seeking to totally get rid of only Hamas (not all the Palestinian people) - but the shooting, bombing and starving of ALL Palestinians strongly suggests otherwise. Note that I describe the Hamas attack on Israel as ‘despicable’: this is the case but, as I’ve pointed out before, if you back a wild animal (or a human being) into a corner then it is liable to strike out viciously and violently. Even Israel’s allies have moved, if not sufficiently, to condemn Israel’s actions - only to be rebuffed by the same old, tired lies of the right wing Israeli government.
I repeat what I said in my first post on this issue: it is impossible to remove Hamas while Israel continues to subjugate and oppress the Palestinian people and while some of the extremist Israelis continue to steal land from the Palestinians. Even if Israel finds, and kills, every current Hamas member they are only creating a new movement which will rise up in a few years time. This new movement might not be called Hamas but it’s aims, and probably methods, will be the same. It will be an ever repeating cycle of death, destruction and violence until Israel stops doing to the Palestinians what it’s been doing for decades.
This is why I am becoming more and more convinced that Israel is undertaking a genocide while denying this is the case: it’s the only final solution, which will stop this cycle, in a way that totally suits Israel’s right wing - that or getting all Palestinians evacuated to another country.
I saw/heard an interview with an old Jewish woman a couple of weeks ago. She insisted that all the Palestinians would be removed from both Gaza and the West Bank. She insisted that this whole land was their (Jewish) land, promised to them by God. When asked what would happen if the Palestinians did not want to leave, her answer was that “a way would (will) be found”. One has to ask what that means? I find it ironic that a people who claim (as many of them do) that they are subjected to anti-semitic/Jewish racism are then quite happy to display a similar racism towards others (this is, basically, everyone else since those right wing Jews believe they are God’s chosen people and therefore better than everyone else). In addition to that, do they not understand that the current actions of the Israeli government are only adding to the anti-Jewish sentiment that already exists? It must be made clear that not all Jews, regardless of where they live, agree with the current actions of their government but many around the World, who are not Jewish, will not see this (the difference between racist and non-racist Jews) - and this will only add to the hatred of all Jews that too many people already hold.
Perhaps (some) Jews feel that what happened to them during the holocaust gives them carte blanche to do just what they please to others? That is certainly how it looks. If any UK Labour Party member was to indicate a tiny fraction of the racism currently been shown by extreme Jews then they would be thrown out of the Party.
It’s long past time that the World, the West in particular, woke up and put a stop to this by enforcing a Palestinian state and, if need be, police it’s borders with UN troops (or similar). Israel and the West might lose control of the potentially lucrative Gaza coastal strip but it/they would gain in other ways if it/they played their cards right.
Addendum. On the morning of June 1st (2024) I read that Israel had offered a new peace deal to Hamas. This would include a six week cease fire, an exchange of Palestinian prisoners and Hamas hostages and more aid getting into the area - followed by talks about ‘fixing’ Gaza, a permanent peace and moving forwards. This is good news - but there is no mention of a separate Palestinian state. Any cease fire and peace negotiations would clearly be a step forward but, in my view, no permanent solution until there was a Palestinian state. In addition to that, some right wing Israeli politicians have indicated strong opposition to this idea along with an attempt to block it - unless Hamas is wiped out. I will not, therefore, be holding my breath!
